A Magical Holiday Tradition: Military Snowball Express 2024 Part 1

This holiday season, the Gary Sinise Foundation proudly welcomed more than 1,700 children and surviving spouses/guardians of our nation’s fallen military heroes to Orlando, Florida, for our Snowball Express annual event. Across five unforgettable days, these special families found healing, joy, and connection through experiences uniquely designed to honor their loved ones while creating new cherished memories.
The celebration began with festive welcomes at airports nationwide, thanks to our presenting sponsor American Airlines. Fully decorated terminals, cheerful volunteers, and even Mickey and Minnie were on hand to ensure each family felt the holiday spirit from the very start.
One of the most touching moments of the event was the Walk of Gratitude at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Families made their way down Main Street, U.S.A., where Disney cast volunteers lined the way to Cinderella’s Castle with heartfelt applause and smiles. The walk culminated in families sharing messages of love and remembrance for their fallen heroes in a touching display of unity and honor.
Families gathered for an adventurous evening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, exploring the park’s many attractions and thrilling rides. This magical setting provided a unique opportunity for families to connect, share moments of joy, and create treasured memories together. The bonds formed here are invaluable, offering understanding, peace, and a sense of community during the holiday season.
No Snowball Express annual event would be complete without a rocking performance from Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band! Families danced the night away at EPCOT, welcomed by the Patriot Guard Riders and a red-carpet entrance that made everyone feel like the VIPs they are. It was an evening filled with music, joy, and endless smiles that will be treasured for years to come.
Throughout the week, families also found moments of reflection in the Remembrance Garden—a serene space dedicated to honoring their heroes and providing a place for quiet healing amidst the excitement.
